Dwell

Dwell is an oil painting on wood, measuring 40 × 30 cm, presented in a handmade oak frame.

Inspired by a quiet fragment of Landmannalaugar in Iceland, the composition focuses on solid lava rock formations softened by layers of bright green moss, with traces of snow resting gently in small pockets of the landscape. Rather than depicting a vast panorama, the painting invites the viewer to linger with the land itself, to dwell in its textures, colors, and stillness.

In the background, a subtle glimpse of the reddish volcanic peak Brennisteinsalda adds warmth and depth, recalling the volcanic forces that shaped this terrain. The moss speaks of patience and time, growing slowly over hardened lava, while the remaining snow suggests the quiet passage of seasons.
