Touching the Untouchable
“Touching the Untouchable” is an original oil painting on canvas (30 × 40 cm) inspired by the recent volcanic activity in Iceland, where the raw power of nature can be seen in glowing rivers of fresh molten lava.
The painting shows a human hand reaching down to touch the flowing lava — something that is beautiful, fascinating, and at the same time completely untouchable. The intense glow of the molten rock contrasts with the surrounding darkness, capturing the dangerous yet mesmerizing nature of volcanic fire.
This image is not only about lava, but about human desire and curiosity. Very often in life we feel drawn toward things that seem impossible, forbidden, or beyond our reach. Just like molten lava, some things in the world attract us with their beauty and power, even though we know they are not meant to be touched.
Through this painting, I wanted to explore that tension between temptation and limitation — the powerful urge to reach beyond what is safe or possible. It reflects the human spirit that constantly pushes boundaries, questioning what can and cannot be done.
